Price the job from what it really costs.

Build each estimate from your crews, rates and materials, see the margin before you send it, and hand your customer a quote they approve and sign online.

An example estimate for a landscaper's patio and walkway: labor, equipment, materials and subcontractors, the overhead on top, the cost, the price and a margin above the business's target, with the bid due on Friday.

Crews that do the math.

Pick the crew and how much it gets done in a day, and the hours, days and labor cost work themselves out.

An example of a crew on a line item: a foreman, two laborers and a skid steer who lay 150 square feet of pavers a day, so a 192 square foot patio takes them 1.28 days, with the labor and machine hours worked out.

Measure once, price everything.

Type a patio's length and width, and the base, the pavers, the edging and the sand follow. Save it, and the next patio only needs its measurements.

An example of a line item worked out from its measurements: a patio 16 feet by 12 with a 6 inch base gives the base gravel in tons, the pavers with waste, the edging around it and the bags of sand.

Your margin on every line.

Overhead, contingency and markup by type of cost, with the margin on each line and a warning when you fall under your target.

An example of an estimate's lines with the price and the margin on each: the patio, the walkway, path lights from a subcontractor at a thinner margin, and planting beds, with the whole estimate above its target margin.

Learn from every finished job.

Hours booked to each part of the job show how fast your crews really work, and your saved line items offer you the real rate.

An example of the cost library learning from finished jobs: the paver patio is priced at 150 square feet a day, the crew's last four finished jobs averaged 172, and one button uses the real rate from now on.

What Estimating does

The things that make a bid you can stand behind.

  • Bid day without slipsOn the day a bid is due its costs lock, so a late change can only be to your markup.
  • Prices from your subsSend the work to subcontractors and suppliers, and their prices come back side by side with your own cost.
  • Saved line itemsKeep a line item with its crew, costs and formulas, even one built from others, and add it to any estimate.
  • AllowancesPrice what the customer has not picked yet as an allowance, and settle it at what it really cost.
  • Every change keptUndo as far back as you need, see who changed what, and keep each revision you sent.
  • Reports that answer backYour hit rate by estimator, the margin you quoted against the margin you earned, and how fast each crew works.

Before you start

Do I need Quotes & Estimates too?

No. Estimating comes with Quotes & Estimates and the Catalog, so the quote your customer approves and the materials you price from are part of it.

How does it know how fast my crews work?

You tell it once, as how much a crew gets done in a day or an hour. Book time to each part of a job, and finished jobs show what the crews really did.

Can I bring my materials list over?

Yes. Bring your materials into the Catalog from a spreadsheet, then add your labor rates, equipment and crews once.

Can my customer approve it online?

Yes. The estimate becomes a quote they approve and sign online, with a deposit if you ask for one.

Do I pay for each estimator?

No. There is no charge per team member.
